SXSW, Ultra Music Festival To Go On Despite Coronavirus Concerns
www.ticketnews.com: The show must go on, at least in Austin and Miami. The cities will house two of the world’s most popular gatherings this month – South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin and Ultra Music Festival in Miami – with officials deeming the events will take place despite growing concerns over the coronavirus.

While I can not speak on the level for South by Southwest like I can for Ultra, I do know both events are international hotspots. Since this article was posted, SXSW was canceled which caused a lot of uproar in the film industry. As someone who goes to school with performers and artists, these film competitions are incredibly important for exposure and telling stories that might not otherwise be told. As far as Ultra is concerned, I have not heard any news about it being canceled yet. The coronavirus poses an interesting threat to these types of events. Since there are such a large amount of people in attendance I understand why festival organizers are cautious of cramming that many people so close together. Traditionally, music festivals involve a lot of people being smushed together in a pit to see a concert. These conditions are not ideal if you are sick or potentially carrying any sort of virus. While I hope the show does go on, people are being appropriately cautious about the viral threat that presents itself.
