Encore SFX invests in MDG for BBC1’s The Greatest Dancer

LightSoundJournal.com: When forming special effects company, Encore SFX, George Baker and Anthony Earles, both of whom have many years’ experience in senior roles in the SFX business, decided to invest in the highest quality special effect products available, and knew exactly which company and products they wanted to partner with.

When you have money, you can buy some cool equipment! Also, you have to account for the cost to maintain these machines and the cost of the fog fluid itself (I don’t think it mentioned how much fluid the show uses). There is a great video about the lighting director of this show and I found it to be a great watch (“I found it to be a great watch” sometimes I say things and question why I talk/text the way I do. *facepalm*). I feel like The Greatest Dancer didn’t have to pay for this new system. They speak as if they invested in the system but I feel like there is still a little (understatement) marketing and branding going on. It's a great review of the product but I would just be cautious if I was a production company (always look into multiple reviews before purchasing expensive systems). I would love to see if this low lying fog does stay low to the ground even with the movement of the dancers (from personal experience low lying fog machine, especially ones that high schools can afford, always lose the battle once a dancer starts kicking, swinging their arms, or just move in general haha) This was a great review of the product but I do see a little bias in this article

MDG has set such a high bar in the atmospherics industry. Even in Purnell, the lighting department has an MDG hazer for the Chosky and also has other brands of hazers, but it is clear that the MDG outshines all of them by far. It fills up the whole space and makes haze that looks very even and lasts for such a long time. It is very smart for Encore to invest in MDG because it is clear that they are the best in the industry and they also have so many solutions for so many groups of customers. They have all of their entertainment products, but they also make foggers that allow for the military to train for areas and situations where there might be a lot of fog in the air. If organizations have the money to purchase their products like CMU does, then I think it is totally worth the investment.
