Hamilton, Hadestown Slated for PNC Broadway's 2020-2021 Season

Pittsburgh Current: Fans of the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh series were pretty disappointed when last week’s reveal of the 2020-2021 season was delayed due to the coronavirus lockdown. That’s why this morning, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust decided to release the program schedule to get us all excited for something big to do after the quarantine is lifted.

Next year's season at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust looks absolutely amazing! So many of last year's Tony award winners are coming to Pittsburgh next season which is absolutely incredible. I for one am so excited about Hadestown! I haven't been to Broadway since 8th grade and thus have not seen any new Broadway shows in a while. Ain't Too Proud, To Kill a Mockingbird, Hamilton, Hadestown, My Fair Lady, oh my! There is so much exciting plays and musicals happening for this upcoming season and I look forward to hopefully seeing at least some of it. It is nice that the Trust is still announcing their next season even with the pandemic. It gives me hope that things will hopefully revert back to normal sometime and makes me count down the days until I'm back in Pittsburgh again. I can't imagine how much the Hamilton tickets will go for again and how many people will wait in the virtual line. I know that is one show I probably won't see for a while.

I am so excited for this! With just saying at home not knowing when I will next get to see a show, this really improved my mood. I know it is a while away, and maybe that's what is exciting about this, but I can't wait to watch these shows in Pittsburgh. I have never thought of buying season tickets as they have always been such a large amount of money, but this subscription for the 2020-2021 season seems very promising for me. I have seen Ain't Too Proud, Hadestown, and Hamilton (tour) already but each of those productions I would be willing to pay to see a second time. I am also very excited to see how they will do To Kill A Mockingbird and the other shows that I have yet to see. Theater is so important to me and I love these Broadway touring shows only because it allows more people to see them who cant afford to access the same productions in NYC, I can't wait for these shows to come to Pittsburgh when I get back in town.

This is honestly the best news I have heard in a while, probably because I love Hamilton and Hadestown. These two musicals were a big reason why I even wanted to the be in theater in the first place, so being in a place where I have the opportunity to watch these shows again made my day.
The first time I watched the shows was in NYC and I was blown away by the sheer magnificence that the two shows exhibited. The productions stood true to what is said about them: wonderful acting, great character perception and story, and a world that is hard to forget about.
Now that these shows are going to be in Pittsburgh for the 2020- 2021 season, I cannot wait to revisit the amazing worlds that these plays create, to relive the classic stories that they so passionately tell, to be in a place where I have an opportunity to question things in a way that is constructive to my understanding of play analysis.

Oh, how excited I am for this lineup of shows. I have been dying to see Hadestown, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Ain’t Too Proud for a while now. I had a chance in New York this spring break, but Broadway shows are crazy expensive and my trip was only a few days. These shows have received tremendous praise and award celebration, so of course I would want to see them as soon as possible. They also will have a hefty price in Pittsburgh, but they are more accessible since we'll be in school and we hopefully will have a student discount. Going to the theatre with my friends was always one of my favorite activities to do at CMU, so having a chance to see these wonderful shows with them will be such a blast. I hope the coronavirus does not continue into this season so we can support such wonderful theatre.
