I am actually really impressed by the fact that this whole production moved so quickly despite the circumstances. To be honest, because I do not own a tv with local or cable networking I rely far less on news shows to bring me updates. For others though, turning on the news on CBS or ABC is really how they can get this information from the safety of their own homes. Reading this article I kept thinking about how the amount of people it takes to run a live news show is quite a lot. While I am glad that they are committed to bringing news to people who are practicing safe social distancing and staying home, I also worry for their own health. I really admire how at the end of the article they talked about how some presenters are still working and filming from home. This may be the encouragement some people need to stay at home - because if these friendly tv faces are social distancing as real people, the viewer can also be social distancing.
This is something very interesting that I haven't seen a lot about. News shows are going on as much as they can so that people can have the information that they need, and that's really stressful for the thousands of people who work in this field. I don't think these shows should be done in person. It's dangerous to a lot of people and portrays a bad message to the general public. It's important that even people who are so integral to communication at such a pivotal time are social distancing to reduce the spread of Corona. Also, I think it's very powerful for viewers to see such influential people following social distancing rules because it shows the average viewer that every person needs to be doing this. I think if these people aren't shown to be social distancing, it looks like this isn't a requirement or isn't as important as it truly is.
