Techie Talk: Het Kunstuur (the Art Hour) is a new ground-breaking ‘interactive’ gallery concept developed by art collectors and entrepreneurs Hans & Joost Bourlon, presented in the charismatic former Holy Ghost Chapel in the historical heart of Mechelen, Belgium.
Thirty-two priceless Belgian paintings from the 19th century are displayed in three gallery spaces … where their stories are told by a series of well-known Belgian personalities.

This is a really interesting concept that I feel like is becoming more and more popular as time progresses. I recently visited the Smithsonian Museum for African American History in Washington, DC and was absolutely blown away by the implementation of new technology into the whole design of this new museum. Being a new museum, it allowed media and lighting designers to explore with new and innovative applications of their various industries to create an interactive experience for museum patrons. I think with this direction in mind, that museums are becoming a much more interactive experience for everyone, and ultimately people are taking away much more from this than the traditional museum experience. I love to visit new museums or museums that frequently rotate between exhibits because you get to see first hand, the growth and progress that has been made in design for this type of space. This exhibit looks like a very interesting and engaging one and I wish I was able to head over to Belgium and see it.
