You Say You Want a Revolution…
HowlRound Theatre Commons: In 1998, ten theatre leaders got together to discuss the issues they were dealing with while producing new works outside the country’s major arts centers. Together, this group—mostly artistic directors of small and midsize companies working with playwrights in places like Dallas, Kansas City, and Washington, D.C.—envisioned a pipeline that could help expand the reach of their favorite writers and shepherd new plays across the country. They were determined to begin sharing the scripts they were working on, introduce playwrights to each other, and, perhaps most importantly, talk with one another regularly.
