I am an incredibly strong supporter of community maker spaces. I grew up surrounded by communities who were denied access to the arts, and I know that the communities that are forced to cut school art programs are filled with people who need the arts the most. Creating is a cathartic process that has been proven to reduce crime and increase educational success. By creating a non-profit maker space is the most beautiful organization I could fathom. Increasing accessibility to the arts is something we all should be working on. The arts are a community, and sometimes the most talented artists lack the resources to express their creativity and unique abilities. We should all be fighting for spaces like these in every community we encounter, in order to keep building our incredible and vibrant art world.
