The season selection of the Public this year intrigued me as it puts classic shows like A Few Good Men and Barefoot in the Park with modern more liberal modern shows like School Girls or The African Mean Girls Play and The Cake and so I was very interested to read an article about Marya Sea Kaminski’s vision. The line where Kaminski talks about being without a central theme and more of a balance makes a lot of sense especially here in Pittsburgh where the demographics of theatre-goers is quite different as there are a lot of older more conservative patrons mixed with radically liberal young college students. Kaminski’s visions make sense for this city. It is interesting that the author of this article points out the trend that all these shows are related to successful people in our industry right now as I myself would never have made this correlation but putting these shows together makes sense. This article was very helpful in seeing where Marya Sea Kaminski was going in her season planning.
