Midnight Radio: Frankenstein
Pittsburgh in the Round: Bricolage Production Company prides itself on producing adventurous theater. As their Midnight Radio series enters its tenth season of producing 1940s era radio shows, they stay true to that mission. They pull the thread on the Halloween season creep-factor with their newest production, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, adapted by Tami Dixon.

I think this is a brilliant thing to make theater over the radio. I love that we’re bringing back 1940’s radio entertainment. It’s a brilliant way to bring back old-fashioned entertainment. I’ve always said that I was born in the wrong millennium. I feel like this form of theater is right up my alley. It kind of reminds me of fireside chats, but of course, in the setting of theater and entertainment. This is such a cool concept that I’ve never experienced before and I hope that I’ll be able to listen to it some time. There’s a magic in reading and/or listening to a story. Instead of having everything presented to you, the setting, the time period, the actors, the costumes etc., you are able to use your imagination and create a world all on your own. It’s incredibly magical and so important to help grow one’s creativity and love for history and tradition.
