Dames at Sea
Pittsburgh in the Round: A boisterously brassy, flamboyantly limelight-hogging leading lady who seems to encompass every overly aggressive and ostentatious showgirl and Hollywood starlet. A winsome but chronically naïve and hopelessly swooning Midwestern girl trying to make it big with only a pair of tap shoes and the dreams in her heart.

Originally This article caught my eye for the use of the word dasmes and I thought maybe its a creative title for an uptick in woman working on cruise ships and when I realised it was about a fellow Pittsburgh University’s production my CMU bubble was slightly popped. I know there are multiple universities with larger theatre programs nearby but I never really realised the opportunity for learning and sharing art this presented. I would certainly be interested in branching out and going to see student theatre around me, outside my campus bubble. I’m curious to know if there is a program to provide discounted tickets to students across theatre programs. I wonder if there could be an increase in advertising to CMU drama students in our weekly event emails to include productions at neighboring universities. Increasing our knowledge base of shows in American theatre can only help us and this seems like a supportive and fun way to do it.
