I think it is very important that young professionals are in meetings such as the ones at TEDxBroadway because those are the people that will soon be running the business and they should get some say in what that will be like. It is important to expose young professionals to the business side of theatre and what is really going on. They should be involved in how the Broadway ecosystem is evolving and the different ways to improve it. The young professionals go up to age 30 which is pretty old when you think of people that are around that age or younger and are successful theatre professionals already. I hope they do not treat this group of people like children who do not know that much about the world and the theatre industry because they could be very intelligent and successful people already. I guess you would not join this program if you have a successful career path, but it might be a good way to get into the conversation.

I remember reading an article earlier in the year about TEDxBroadway but this article talks about what the refined topic is going to be this coming year: Young Professional and Student Programs. This is a great idea. Including the young professionals and students into the conversation will allow fresh voices, opinions, and new insights into the discussion. They will also be the ones leading Broadway as time progresses and any changes that occur will occur from this group of people. However, not only are they becoming part of the discussion and process but students are even getting picked to sit in on the discussion. They will have the amazing opportunity to interact with these speakers and not only possibly voice their own opinions but also create connections and begin their role in the topic. It is an amazing opportunity for those being chosen and it is amazing that TEDxBroadway is doing this. I can’t wait to see how this turns out as I watch whatever I can on whatever platform has it.
