Variety: Hundreds of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse survivors and their supporters turned out for the “Take Back the Workplace” and #MeToo survivors’ marches Sunday in Hollywood.
The event kicked off around 10 a.m. and featured several speakers who shared stories of why sexual abuse prevention matters in front of a red “Take Back the Workplace” banner.

This article brought up a point about 21st century activism that I think is really important for us, as relatively liberal minded, young students to think about. When can we move away from activism being solely about numbers of supporters and really have activism be about social, political, legalized change? I think one of the problems I had with the #metoo trend was not only that it was and is just that--a trend, but also that while it did relate to the larger public that sexual assault and harassment has had an affect over so so many people, it did not really bring about actual change. I do not expect sexism and issues of assault to be solved overnight. And I completely understand that in order for change to occur it needs a large backing, but would it not be even more helpful to have big discussions about sexism and sexual assault and harassment than just trending topics about them on Twitter and Facebook? We as a community need to come together and think about some ways to move on from "slacktivism" to full on activism. But I am glad to see louder protests going on in Hollywood!
