The evolution of fashion from the 1850s to the present is really incredible. I actually had heard about this exhibit before reading this article. I am also currently working on Matchmaker for my run crew and I have witnessed a few performers putting on many layers of clothing that are supposed to be based on the late 1800s clothing style. I cannot believe that women would wear EIGHT layers of clothing! It’s so interesting how the way we wear clothing and how much clothing we wear has changed. To think about lingerie of the present and compare it to the undergarments of the late 1800s is somewhat ridiculous. I don’t really understand how clothing has evolved from women being covered from head to toe and now to crop tops and short shorts. I’m amazed at how fast and drastically clothing has evolved in a little over 100yrs.
