Mary Poppins
Pittsburgh in the Round: Mary Poppins, a family favorite for decades, came flying into Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center as the opening production to their eleventh season. This combines P.L. Travers’ book series and Walt Disney’s film into one stage musical. It includes all the most renowned musical scores from Disney’s film such as “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and “Chim Chim Cher-ee” along with additional scores.

This article review on a production in Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, of Marry Poppins, was a little underwhelming. It, in my opinion, spent a lot of the article talking about the plot and structure of the musical, rather the specifics to the production under review. That being said, it was also hard to get a since it the show was going to be worth wild to a show to avoid. The writer of this review did give a lot of praise about the performance other than to mention one cool prop trick and the flying of Marry Poppins at the beginning and end. At the end if the day I have no more desire to go see this production than I did before. But at the same time it sound like a bad production and the pictures of the show looked good.
This is certainly a different kind of review than I have read in the past. It seems as though there was more review of the script than the production. I am also getting vibes that this is pretty much a straight copy from the Broadway version. A lot of what is described as well as the images lead me to believe that we are a little closer to the exact Broadway version than I would like. It is clear the reviewer has not seen the original (entirely or in clips or pictures) because no mention of their similarities is mentioned. I think the writing in this review is also fairly informal which is a surprise. I suppose this is not the most professional site, but I would expect a different writing style for a formal review. All in all, I am slightly confused by what this piece is trying to say or if it is a positive review or not.
