Obsidian Train the Trainer Initiative Bearing Fruit

Lighting&Sound America Online - News: Last November, Obsidian Control Systems initiated Train the Trainer workshops aimed at training its European partners on the specifics of the intuitive ONYX lighting control platform. The sessions, specifically designed to springboard an Obsidian awareness campaign and grow the ONYX community, are bearing fruit as trainers across Europe amplify the platform's reach by training other partners and end-users.

Training and familiarity are absolutely essential for a lighting control console to be widely adopted. It seems like right now MA is the leader of large-scale production lighting control, with Eos having a strong presence in American theater and education. There are a lot of control consoles that have the power to create almost any form of show, but designers and programmers are going to choose the consoles that they are best trained on and are the most familiar with when a production comes around. Eos and MA are popular because people have been using them for a long time, and they commonly exist in rental houses. Eos has worked hard to make themselves available in educational settings so that growing designers are already familiar with them. I will be very curious if ONYX will be able to gain ground in the industry as they focus on training potential users.
