I love the idea of this program, as not only are they growing the entertainment industry’s reach but also making our work more accessible. It is so impossible to afford to work in theater anyways, and the barrier to accessing jobs is often a matter of who you know. I owe my success in this industry to the people I happen to run into and get along with. While I am skilled, I know many people who are just as skilled as me and not pursuing a career in this industry because they could not afford to- the privilege I have to continue working in entertainment is all thanks to a friend of a friend of a friend. To host an event where more people who might not otherwise have the highest level of education but the strongest of passion for this work can be introduced to people who are creating realistic pathways for them into this industry are a lovely way to make our industry more of a possibility for others.

I feel like this would be an amazing event for me to attend in the future. It fits right in with my career aspirations and would be able to help me find new opportunities that I don’t currently know. The fact that the event itself is free is just another aspect that might draw me to visit it. Free events like this one are an amazing way to draw attention to an oft oversimplified industry. There are many parts of the touring world that aren’t known outside of certain circles that this event is able to shine a light on. I am also glad that they are encouraging those who have what they refer to as a ‘NEET’ background to get involved in the industry. I think that while a higher portion of the attendees are those currently in educational settings or are employed by an entertainment company it is a great benefit to the attendees that there are potential opportunities for employment and career advancement.
