You've Got Mail Order—How the TDF Costume Collection Ships Rentals Across the Country
TDF: As emerging costume designers, Ariel Kregal and Gabe Bagdazian had been running into each other for years. So she wasn’t that surprised when she walked into the TDF Costume Collection in spring 2024 to rent some items and spotted Bagdazian, who had recently been hired as an In-House Designer.

I really liked reading about this because it shows a side of costume design that people don’t usually think about. It’s easy to focus on big productions, but this highlights how much work goes into supporting schools and smaller theaters. I think it’s really cool that Ariell and Gabe are helping bring high-quality costumes to students, especially ones that may have come from Broadway. That feels like such a meaningful experience for young performers. I also found their process interesting, especially how much creativity is involved even when they’re just given a show title and measurements. It shows that design isn’t just about creating something new, but also about knowing how to work with what you have. At the same time, it made me realize how much effort goes on behind the scenes to make productions come together. Overall, this made me appreciate how collaborative and wide-reaching costume design really is.
