OpenAI Shutting Down Sora Video App
www.hollywoodreporter.com: “We’re saying goodbye to Sora. To everyone who created with Sora, shared it, and built community around it: thank you,” the company said in a statement. “What you made with Sora mattered, and we know this news is disappointing. We’ll share more soon, including timelines for the app and API and details on preserving your work.”

I am generally someone who is pretty pessimistic about AI, so I am perfectly happy to see this news. I have a strong personal belief that the purpose of us developing technology is to make people’s lives better, and to take away the tasks that Human’s do not want to do, like repetitive actions in a factory. In my view, most modern AI platforms are taking away the intellectual and creative tasks that many people enjoy doing, while forcing humans to do menial tasks in the physical world. I think that AI video creation from the likes of Sora is a great example of trying to replace human creatives with a cheaper AI system, which is just stealing the work of the creatives who originally created the intellectual property, and then putting them out of business for future development. I am very curious to hear what happens in this space over the next couple of months and years, and see if this is just a blip and AI continues to grow, or if this is really the beginning of a bubble bursting.
I would be lying I said that I wasn’t preying on sora’s downfall so I’m really happy to hear this news. While the open ai company does not care about the livelihood of artists or the integrity of creativity they do care about their profit, ai video creation is super expensive and if they’re losing money it makes sense that they would shut the app down and create a new plan. I am of the opinion that Disney never should of took part in this deal to being in with, so I think this can be a good thing however it looks like they’re still planning on putting their fingers in the ai generation pie, Disney even trying this is wrong to me since they are one of the pillars of modern animation them taking part of this sets a bad precedence for everything else and I hope they backlash they are receiving makes them reconsider their future plans
