Ruth Carter is an icon! She is truly one of the most prolific costume designers of all time! In my opinion, some of the most memorable parts of the most notable movies that she has worked on (Black Panther, Wakanda Forever, and Sinners) have been her costumes! She has been such a crucial part of building the worlds in the films that she has been involved with! I saw a museum exhibit of her work, and it was stunning! She creates such beautiful forms, and uses color better than just about every other costume designer. I would love to watch a documentary about the collaboration between her and Ryan Coogler, because the costumes are just such a standout element in all 3 of their movies together! Costume designers need to be recognized more! These designers are literally creating outward extensions of the characters. They often do as much, if not more, character work than the actors themselves. This is probably due to our subconscious association with what someone is wearing to the person that is wearing it.
