Live Nation's Ric Grenell Exits Kennedy Center, Renewing Spotlight on Trump Ties
TicketNews: Richard Grenell is stepping down as president of the Kennedy Center, ending a turbulent tenure that turned one of the nation’s most prominent performing arts venues into a flashpoint for political backlash, artist boycotts, and broader debate over the politicization of live entertainment institutions. President Donald Trump announced Friday that Matt Floca, the center’s vice president of facilities operations, will succeed Grenell, with the move expected to be finalized at a Monday board meeting.

This is why I don’t really anticipate anything happening in the Live Nation case anytime soon. Sure, it may go to trial, but I imagine the Department of Justice will just stall the case as much as they can in order to preserve the interests of people who are allied with the current administration. In general, the Kennedy Center has fallen quite far in its relatively short time under the current administration’s control. It will be interesting to see what happens to the center during its renovation process, and what the changes made to the center will be, if there will be any at all. I think that it is entirely possible that no changes come to the Kennedy Center, and it just sits abandoned for the next few years to save the administration the embarrassment of a boycott. Regardless, Grennel’s departure is certainly a win for the Kennedy Center, despite its dismal state.
