It is so refreshing to see this new wave of recognition and appreciation for everyone who works on a production. We have seen this with assistants and cameramen, and now stunt performers and coordinators as well. Stunt actors often go unrecognized, as the nature of their job is to be perceived as the actor for which they are doubling, but the work that they do requires a lot of skill. It is a dangerous job, as is evidenced by David Holmes, the stunt double for Daniel Radcliffe in the Harry Potter series who is now paralyzed from an accident on set. People are quite literally volunteering to put their lives on the line so that these art forms can be produced. Stunts are an integral part of a story because they help bring the action to life. I like how this article included the names of all of the people nominated rather than just writing about them or only listing some of them. Visibility and appreciation like this is so important, and I am excited to see which group this positive trend affects next.
