www.broadwaynews.com: The Broadway production of “Wicked” and the high-end stationery retailer Moleskine have partnered to create grants for the Creativity Pioneers Fund. The partnership aims to increase arts access to underserved areas within the United States. The second iteration of the “Everyone Deserves the Chance to Fly” grant was awarded to NYC Salt following the March 26 performance of “Wicked” at the Gershwin Theatre.

As both a big fan of moleskine notebooks, and wicked I for one, was very happy to see that these two massive things are joining together to try and make the world a slightly less shitty place. I also really like the name ‘everyone deserves a chance to fly’ whoever decided to make that the name of a scholarship made a great choice. I think exposure to the arts at a young age is really important. Aside from just giving kids an outlet to express themselves, I think art is a really good way to teach kids about empathy and how important storytelling is. Especially in today's day and age I think it's even more important for big companies to help keep things like art education alive because who knows what Trump is going to do tomorrow, he might wake up and say defend the entire department of education, as a totally not real example, so I think more things like this partnership need to happen in order to keep the arts alive and well in years to come.
