OMG! I saw this on instagram a couple of days ago and go SO excited!! I definitely will not be in London anytime soon so I have no hopes of being able to see it! But I love Paddington!! He loves orange marmalade, I love orange marmalade! There are times where I wish I could leave all of my Human responsibilities behind and go be a bear and he would like to leave all of his bear responsibilities and be a human! We are the same! I still have yet to see the newest movie, Paddington in Peru, but I am so excited for when I get to! I am also excited about this musical because maybe it will come to Broadway or go on tour, both of which greatly increase my likelihood of being able to see it. Also it is so interesting that it is going to be at the Savoy theatre, because earlier today I saw that Todrick Hall will be making his directorial debut with Burlesque at the Savoy in June so very interesting!
I just saw the teaser for this on Instagram a few days ago. I'm sure this is gonna be a greta show. A lot of times when they announce new musicals of classic movies or stories that were done really well in a different medium, I find myself hoping they don't mess it up. But honestly I don't think they will mess this up. Paddington is such a good movie. I very distinctly remember watching it for the first time in theaters when I was probably 8. It was a really good movie. I have yet to see Paddington in Peru, BUT I did see the Paddington house when I was in London over spring break. I should watch that movie again. I wonder how they will portray him in the musical. I want to see him played by a child, but I'm sure it's too large of a role to do that.
I know Paddington just came out with a new movie and it's been like a hit series or movie collection since the first Paddington movie came out so different from The Princess Bride a musical I'm actually very excited to see what a Paddington the musical would be like. I was reading this article and I'm happy to know that it's confirmed as a musical and it's officially opening in November which is exciting and Paddington is such a cute little bear and icon within the movie world that I think this adaptation could be really cute and happy and fun. I also didn't know that Paddington was this old like Paddington was first created in 1958 which is so many years ago and I thought Paddington was like a recent Creation with another past like 15 years so to learn that was kind of mind-blowing but I look forward to seeing this adaptation on the west and to see their cast and creative team and I hope to get to see this musical in the near future.
When I originally saw on Instagram that Paddington would be adapted into a musical in the West End, I got very excited. I grew up with Paddington, as my mom would take frequent business trips to London and often brought back Paddington books or Paddington-themed souvenirs. I love the idea of bringing these childhood stories to life. I believe it really encourages the play that comes with childhood and is just such a rewarding experience for everyone involved, even the audience. I’m really curious to know whether or not they will be including puppets in this adaptation. In the article they mentioned the importance of this story being brought to life now more than ever, and I couldn’t agree more. With the current state of the world, it is important to look back on these stories that were once introduced to us as kids. They aren’t just some funny little books, they are meant to indirectly teach us the truths of the world and how to live.
I wonder how they're going to bring this story to life. I wonder if they're planning on using puppetry or something to help convey that character of Paddington in a real time manner. I'm also curious about the source material that they're planning on using for the musical. Are they going to do something based on the books? Are they going to do something that is a spin-off of the books? Are they going to reference things from the Paddington movie series?I think I'm excited to see where this goes, but I'm always worried about adaptations like this one because with a musical that is an adaptation, sometimes the adapted work is more of a cash grab, then a carefully thought out and executed transition from one media to another. especially because live theatrical entertainment is a particularly difficult medium, so not every story is always the easiest to translate.
I hadn’t heard anything about the Paddington musical, so this was definitely a really exciting article to read. Obviously, like everyone, I absolutely adore Paddington, and the Paddington books were a classic part of my childhood. I actually have not watched any of the Paddington movies, but I have heard good things about them, and maybe I’ll add them to my summer watchlist in anticipation of this musical. I’m really curious about what the fundamental design concept behind this musical will be, and whether Paddington will be a puppet, or perhaps a small child. The article really did not say much about the musical itself, just that everybody is really excited about it, and without any sort of creative team announced yet, it is definitely difficult to discern anything about what this musical will look like. With how well-recieved theatrical puppetry has been recently, I definitely suspect that Paddington will be an absolutely adorable puppet.
