ShopBot Tools launches CNC video series
Woodworking Network: CNC machines offer incredible versatility, and a new video series from ShopBot Tools takes you through 26 projects A to Z in an entertaining and informative showcase of techniques, materials, tooling, software, and creativity.
I think that the fact that informational videos regarding CNC machines are being provided in such an engaging and easy to digest way is incredible. I remember being in woodshop class in high school and being told that I could just learn how to operate a CNC machine, and that I would make a lot of money just doing that. As someone who has never been motivated solely by money, I didn't really pay this much attention. However, I do remember thinking that they pay probably wouldn't be amazing, as the technology would get more popular, more people would be teaching others to use it, and the uniqueness of the skills required to operate one would go down. Which is exactly what is happening here, and is exactly what should be happening. I believe that as fabrication technology grows and expands in it's capabilities, it should also grow and expand in it's availability to everyone. Imagine how cool it would be to have a mini 6"x6"x6" CNC machine on your desk for like 30 bucks, and most anyone would know how to use it. I hope we reach that point one day.
