Observer Arts Interviews: Amy Cassello and Gina Duncan of BAM

Observer: The Brooklyn Academy of Music heads into 2025 poised for change. Last year, Amy Cassello, who has been with BAM for over a decade, officially became its new artistic director. She joins at the helm Gina Duncan, who became BAM’s president in 2022 with a mandate to increase Black and Brown membership through efforts like programming from singer-songwriter Solange Knowles and writer Hanif Abdurraqib, and a revival of Lorraine Hansberry’s final drama.
