When I saw that there was an article announcing the achievements and technical areas and scientific areas for film I was super intrigued. But after reading this article I have not heard of any single of these films or Works. I think it is incredible how much art is out there and how much access we have to film and media that isn't as well known and that the works are getting nominations and achievement awards. These nominations are all released from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences so I think that these are all worth a watch because of the field we are in. I think it's important to immerse yourself in all types of art, those that are known and those that are not as known so I think that these nominations provide a great resource to explore more art and Technical art and scientific art and see how bad it changes our Outlook.
I think its really cool how so many of the awards this year were for fire related stunts and camera gimbals! This article was really well written and I really appreciate how they gave descriptions for all of the new items and how specifically they can be used, because I definitely would not have understood much of what was being awarded without the clarification. The fire related ones really stuck out to me- as someone who has only participated in high school theatre up until now, I have NEVER had to worry about actors and fire safety. But in the professional world you do get to deal with stuff like pyrotechnics and fire related stunts and I don't think I can even imagine how much safety planning goes into executing those ideas. The gel that is used to prevent skin burns while the skin is in contact with fire is really cool, it wouldn't have even occurred to me that that existed. I wonder what its like to use it? Does the gel disperse a lot of the heat or would it still be uncomfortable, albeit safe, to have fire making contact with your skin?
