The Audition Room
Wenger | J.R. Clancy: From high school productions to Broadway, auditioning for a show is the first step an actor takes to get on the stage. It may surprise you to know that once you are in the room, the audition process is relatively streamlined. Here is what to expect when walking into an in-person audition.

I think that pretty much every child declares “I want to be an actor!” at some point in their childhood, but very few people have the stamina and dedication to the craft to actually commit to it. I remember desperately wishing for a theater program at my school as early as 3rd grade, because I had an interest in singing and acting, however none of the schools I attended had such a program. Even though I am now on track for a future career in the design and production side of theater, I am still curious about the audition process and love hearing about auditions. I didn’t know most of these details and technicalities, such as not approaching the table and invading personal space, or standing 10 feet away for optics, and if I ever do feel like trying my hand at acting, articles like this will be very helpful.
