Newcity Stage: Sound design wasn’t in Willow James’ future, until six years ago when an internship at Steppenwolf Theatre exposed him to “people living their dreams while sustaining their lives,” and James thought, “I can do that.” He is a go-to sound designer for prestigious Chicago theater companies, including Court Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Writers Theatre and Definition Theatre.
