The wildfires in California have impacted thousands of families and businesses in the LA area. For me, my cousins lost their home in Altadena to the fires, where I have spent many family vacations and time. It was devastating news and made me incredibly concerned for their safety. I was also saddened that so much history and comfort had been lost along with the home. I am super thankful for the volunteers and firefighters who are tirelessly fighting against these horrible fires. Additionally, organizations like Broadway Cares are giving much-needed support to the LA area. I think this generosity highlights what I love about theatre and its community so much: care for others across the nation. Theatre is incredibly community-based and relies on strong support from lots of different people. In times of need as great at this, I am glad that Broadway Cares recognizes this and unanimously donated $500,000 to relief organization in LA. I hope to similarly support people and my family in LA during this time of crisis.
