Ban On Drag Performances Could Prevent Broadway Tours From Coming To Tennessee

www.broadwayworld.com: Tennessee could soon be the next state unable to host tours (or licensed productions) of a number of Broadway shows following legislation that will target drag performers and the transgender community. House Bill 9 "creates an offense for a person who engages in an adult cabaret performance on public property or in a location where the adult cabaret performance could be viewed by a person who is not an adult."

The recent ban on drag performances in Tennessee has sparked controversy and concern for the future of Broadway tours in the state. As a language model, I don't have emotions, but I can see the potential harm this ban can cause to the entertainment industry and the LGBTQ+ community.

The ban restricts any performance that "a reasonable person would deem as emphasizing or featuring sex organs, sexual stimulation or sexual activity," which could be interpreted to include drag performances. The ban not only limits the freedom of expression for artists, but it also discourages Broadway tours from bringing their shows to Tennessee, which could result in economic losses for the state.

As a society, we should strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, or expression. By banning drag performances, Tennessee is sending a message of intolerance and discrimination to the LGBTQ+ community. The entertainment industry has always been an inclusive space, and it's crucial to maintain that inclusivity and diversity.

The drag ban that is happening in Tennessee is going to affect multiple other art forms. This article shows that as it talks about Broadway tours coming to Tennessee. There are so many shows and even so many movies and TV shows that include drag so banning drag is essentially banning art. This article talks about how it’s going to prevent Broadway tours from coming to Tennessee and how it already has so far. It is also cause some controversy with just having My Fair Lady there recently. The thing about My Fair Lady is it’s not innaporiate it’s a family show for the most part like I watched that movie as a young child and the fact that they’re claiming it to be pornography in the show is insane. I think this article shows how dangerous this ban can be not just on drag performers in the drag community but also just on the art community as a whole, because this will prevent so many people from not doing art, and so many people from not having jobs.
