Las Vegas Ticket-Buyers Left Hanging as Adele Mocks Negative Coverage
www.ticketnews.com: Adele fans are once again left in the lurch regarding the status of the singer’s postponed Las Vegas residency, Weekends With Adele. The singer has not made any announcement regarding the status of those shows, which were postponed in late January just hours before the first show was scheduled and many fans were already on the way to Nevada.

Adele’s unprofessionalism is extremely clear in this particular situation. Regardless of Adele’s COVID excuse, it is not acceptable for a celebrity with a fanbase the size of Adele’s to be so careless with the cancellation and lax rescheduling of shows that she has demonstrated. Especially taking into account the price of the tickets at this caliber of venue and performance, it is simply a careless action. Though I feel that fans who defend Adele with claims regarding her dedication to the quality of her show, essentially saying that the reason why she had to cancel the show was because she felt that the show would not be of the quality that her fans expected (or the quality that she wants to provide for her fans). However, this argument is invalidated by the fact that with the amount of resources and time that Adele would have had, there is a feeling that if her feelings about the show quality are true, she would not have let it be so un-put-together at that stage.
While I can sympathize with COVID issues, Adele and some venues are not giving audience members adequate notice. Over winter break, my family and I went to see a matinee of To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway. Twenty five minutes before curtain, the show was canceled due to a positive COVID case. We only found out upon arriving at the theater: there was no email sent out to the people who had purchased tickets, no information on the website. We were able to switch to the evening performance, but not everyone else was able to. For Adele to not announce the cancellation sooner and apologize is rude to her fans. So many people had already taken time off of work and paid for tickets, travel, and accommodations. It is especially inconsiderate if the reason Adele postponed with no apology is due to personal drama. Artists need to be held accountable for the way they handle canceled productions.
