Epson unveils its newest generation of high lumens 3LCD projectors
TPi: Epson has launched its newest generation of compact, efficient and ultra-lightweight high lumens 3LCD projectors.
Building on the success of its EB-L20000U series, Epson’s PU2200U range of high lumens 3LCD projectors includes the world’s smallest and lightest 20,000 lumens models (EB-PU2220B / EB-PU2120W) which are 70% smaller and 50% lighter than their predecessor (EBL20000U).

This new line of projectors is huge for our industry, which is why I wanted to talk about it. First, projecting with 20k lumens is going to be much less space and energy consuming with these projectors, but more importantly, their much lower weight and size are going to be amazing for installation. This both benefits our needs in theatre, being able to hang projectors in tighter spaces on a lineset or catwalk, and for the purposes of installation art, being able to both hang and adjust these projectors into more odd positions than they’ve already been able to do. For our needs in the theatre, I’m quite curious as to how effective the internal stacking software is, because being able to outsource that processing power to the projector would make running media content a lot smoother on lower-end computer systems. All-in-all these are very exciting developments, and I’m excited to see these features be utilized soon.
