After having looked at this TikTokker’s page and how extensive her portfolio is, it’s interesting to think about the opportunities created by social media that would previously not exist. A talented makeup artist is now able to design and showcase her work directly to an audience that she cultivates, with little interference. The audience can grow and expand, so far that news articles are being written (such as this one). TikTok and other social media platforms have provided a platform and reach that was previously unimaginable. Here we are, reading about her from across the globe. This doesn’t simply apply to makeup artists. It is applicable to anyone who may benefit from an audience. This allows for so many more, talented people to explore their passion and develop their work, free of reliance on someone else or restraint beyond their own creativity. It will be interesting to see how the rise of social media influences artists in the future, and if it threatens to oversaturate the market of talent.
