I have been hearing more and more about event cancelations because of supply chain shortages and delays, which is so unbelievably sad. Recently I saw a video Adel posted online of her in tears after she was forced to cancel a live event in Las Vegas, because of covid-19 and supply chain shortages. While some have pointed out that she was being difficult with the venue and wanted the set and sound systems to be changed it is still insane that due to supply shortages this lead to the event collapsing. To be fair we are still in a pandemic, and in a world where the next week may hold lockdowns and quarantines it is understandable that large event supplies are in shortages. One plus side I will say is that while large public events like music festivals are down, small local events have flourished especially in the underground music scene. For me this is a lot of fun because I’ve always preferred smaller local events to big ones, because there is much more of an intimacy especially with smaller music events. I’m obsessed with techno and while there are virtually no large live techno events around right now, the underground techno scene in not only NYC but also Pittsburgh has flourished during the pandemic because there is much more demand for small local events to replace the large ones.
