Innovative Circular Saw
Fine Homebuilding: Flex Tools calls its 24v in-line circular saw the “first of its kind.” Given how it’s set up, I think the description is fair. It has an in-line blade and motor arrangement, but not quite a rear handle like a worm-drive saw. Rather, the handle is mounted on top of the motor. Another twist is the blade size, which is 6-1⁄2 in. instead of 7-1⁄4 in.

This battery operated saw that can direct where sawdust goes as you cut is an innovation that makes cutting wood a lot easier. Having said that, given how exciting this saw seems to be, the author of this article seems extremely bored by it. After a thorough read of this saw, Mark Clements lackluster writing skills do not do this saw justice. He seems like he knows more about saws than me, but you couldn’t tell from the way he writes. With a top mounted handle, an in-line blade and motor, incredibly comfortable grips, easy-to-adjust blade height and angle, a front mounted dust port, and fantastic pressure, this saw is a must have for any passionate lumber cutter. And if all that wasn’t enough, batteries are included. All that, for $250? That is an unequivocal win. And I believe more people would appreciate this saw if the people writing about it would give it the enthusiasm it has earned.
I want this saw so bad. It’s compact but still made in a way to get the job done and it’s probably light weight and easy to throw into a tool backpack. 24 volts makes a lot of sense cuz even the Dewalt 20 volt circsaw could only take 2 hours of heavy use on one of the fat batteries, so I imagine the 24 volts makes battery life a lot happier for the user and for the equipment lol. I don’t know it just seems like a well thought out product but the only down side is probably how expensive it is, like even having to buy a couple of batteries with it and the charger to boot is probably not worth it. Like you could just keep buying more batteries for the cordless circsaw you already own and save money that way, it is however, so dangerously tempting to buy.
