I remember way way in the beginning of the pandemic in Indiana there was this community event on Facebook going around that was called like #WeMakeEvents or something like that to call out House members to pass the Restart bill for some sort of pandemic relief fund for the entertainment workers who got furloughed or lost their jobs. All of the local vendors, regional theaters, even the small local theaters and universities lit their buildings with red lights because they called it a “red alert.” I remember looking out at the IRT and seeing all of the instruments on the side of the front doors or looking at the Lucas Oil Stadium in dark red, almost hauntingly like it was covered in blood. And ever since then I’ve tried to make the active effort to pay attention to what’s being said in Congress because it’s scary to think about seeing those red lights again.
