A few months ago, I watched a television show that showed the process of singers and performers recording their albums. When I heard the singer just singing directly into the mic in the recording booth, I thought that the voice would not need the various steps of refinement unless they were going to add special effects such as auto tune, because it sounded just fine. However, I was very surprised to hear the before and after version of the normal and mixed voice. The point that I learned is that the mixing was not only the process of subtracting redundant sources from the sound, but also involved adding necessary measures. I wonder if these kinds of steps could be reduced by applying certain modes or programs into the microphone itself, so that, for instance, the unnecessary noises that might clash with the vocal could be cut fundamentally from the process of recording.
