QLED vs OLED: Samsung TV and LG TV 2020 comparison
CNET: In 2021, the high-end TV landscape is just as confusing to new buyers as ever. There's a bunch of new televisions to consider, a raft of technical-sounding features -- 8K, HDR, Ultra HD 4K, 120Hz and HDMI 2.1 -- and a stable of familiar brand names competing for your dollar. Two of the biggest, Samsung and LG, use very similar terms to describe their best TVs, but Samsung's QLED and LG's OLED are as different as day and night.

In terms of the consumer market, the difference between QLED and OLED frankly will not matter to them. They will not be able to see a difference at all between the two pictures. I could see this distinction being important in a professional setting but even then I think at least in theatre, we would be more likely to use a projector anyway so LED technology does not really matter. Although for smaller theatres (specifically <200 people) a TV could be substantially less expensive than a projector and deliver a similar product. So maybe it would make sense to use it then but it would be much more difficult to mount or hang. If I were to purchase a TV specifically for the production, I would choose a QLED tv specifically because of the OLED burn-in. Likely during the rehearsal process, the TV would be on for 4-6 hours a day, most likely for 4 hours per show which could make OLED burn possible.
