Tony-Winning Costume Designer Paloma Young on Loving Regional Theatre, Her Surprising Connection to Susan Hilferty, and More
Playbill: One positive thing that has come out of the Broadway shutdown is that more people than ever before understand just how big the theatrical community is. Broadway isn't just the stars and the writers—it's a whole team of designers and others, who have their own teams working for them. And Broadway isn't just Broadway: It's regional theatre and community theatre and national tours, all of which serve to inspire the next generation of theatremakers.

This was a really sweet article/video. Paloma Young just seems like a really great person. With the uproar of the BLM movement and the exposing of what the world of professional theater is truly like, I began to believe that every single member of the industry (including myself) was automatically evil. But Young is a great example of someone who is wildly successful and socially conscious. She is able to be a powerhouse but also lift people up. She is able to take on diversity initiatives without feeling like by hiring and mentoring, her position may be in any way threatened. It is so inspiring to know that she is one of the leaders in her industry and she holds such important values and practices close to her heart. This video was just a nice reminder that there are positive role models out there in the world of theater, and that it is possible to become one yourself.
