Universal Studios Beijing Unveils New Details About Lands and Attractions
Coaster101: Way back in 2014, construction began on the newest addition to the Universal Parks & Resorts family: Universal Studios Beijing. Since then, we’ve gotten some details about the park, and seen some great construction photos from the immersive lands. This morning, however, we got some brand new images and video about the upcoming park, which is still on schedule to open in 2021.

The updates and concepts coming to Universal Studios are very exciting. I know I likely will not make it to many of the international theme parks, but seeing their advances and value on guest immersion is incredible. Universal Beijing Resort is slated to open in 2021, hopefully this is still the case considering understandable possible Covid related setbacks. The nerd in me is definitely excited to hear about a land fully dedicated to the Transformers universe. I am not a roller coaster person but the name “Decepticoaster” sounds epic. “Bumblebee Boogie” sounds a bit more childish, but it is nice to see that they are at least catering to all sorts of guests. The ride vehicles do look pretty cool for it too. “Battle for the Allspark” has not been confirmed, but it is another fantastic name if it is realized. I have not fully formed an opinion on “Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness” or the Minion land, but I am sure some people will love it. The boat ride sounds cool. The land I am most excited about is the Hollywood themed land, especially if it is true that Steven Spielberg and Zhang Yimou worked on it. Isla Nublar is a close second favorite. It would be cool if Spielberg worked on this as well. The story telling qualities look incredible and are one of my favorite aspects of theme parks. I love that Water World will be making its way over as well. I love it and always worry it will be removed, so it is nice to see them instead adding it to a new park and with even more surrounding it. Harry Potter World does not seem to have any announced differences to make it unique, but I am sure it will be great. Overall, Universal Beijing Resort has so much potential and I am very excited to find out more.

Every time I hear someone is building a new theme park I just think to myself is there really true demand for it? I mean at this point it seems as though Disney and Universal are both simply building a worldwide network of parks and I just understand how they the amount of people through them to justify building another one, I guess that goes into my own dislike of theme parks but still it seems like a crazy expensive endeavor to try and recreate similar parks around the world. I mean don’t get me wrong I think a Universal Studios Beijing will make money I am not saying it won’t I imagine that any theme park will, especially in a market the size of China. But I just wonder how long the appeal of theme parks will last and what the climate will be in 2021 when this park opens.
