Resident Evil: The Final Chapter producers sued after stuntwoman injured

www.syfy.com: The Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson Resident Evil films have been the longest-running and most financially successful video game movies, with the 16-year franchise surpassing $1.23B at the box office. However, a new lawsuit from a stunt performer from the latest entry says that these relatively inexpensive films didn't invest in safety — which has had a devastating impact on her life and those of others.

I commented on an article regarding Olivia Jackson’s injuries and current lawsuit against Paul W.S. Anderson and the production companies just last week. However, this article reveals even more information about the accident itself and other accidents that have occurred during the Resident Evil franchise production. Firstly, in regards to Jackson and her injuries, additional information given further emphasizes the sheer neglect for her safety during the filming. The fact that the shot was changed after the practice run, without an additional practice run, is ridiculous. Not only that, but the changes that were made were adding a longer camera lens as well as lifting the camera boom at a later moment—both of these adjustments lessened the amount of time and clearance she would have as the boom passed over her head, and as a result, Jackson received nearly fatal injuries which the crew seemed to blame on “adverse weather conditions.” Yeah right. In addition to Jackson’s injuries, a crewmember was KILLED after getting run over by a military Humvee during the filming of the same installment of the series. Another 16 actors were injured during the filming of another Resident Evil film when they fell through a gap in a platform. Resident evil really needs to take more time to consider the safety of their actors and production team, because this is really getting out of hand.
