Multileader Style and Creating Custom Multileaders: Tuesday Tips With Seth

AutoCAD Blog | Autodesk: We all add notes (multileaders) to our drawings. Notes can convey anything from how something should be built, to designating a spec that needs to be followed for construction. Many users just use the default multileaders without realizing the power of what multileaders can do.

Back in Studiocraft with Dick, he always stressed the importance of organizing the information we present on draftings: Dimensions need to be in logical order and easy to read, leaders should not impede one's ability to read other information on the page, etc. I feel that this is often forgotten in AutoCAD, where placing dims and leaders is literally just a few clicks of the mouse. Appropriately styling and formatting one's notes and other markups should not be forgotten for the sole reason of convenience. Sure, it may be easier to simply drag and drop stuff into model space, but if the folks on the shop floor get confused because somebody failed to draw a coherent document, that is entirely the fault of the draftsperson. Pay attention when you draw, because it can make the difference in building that big and expensive unit correctly vs building it upside down and backwards.
