The show goes on for 80-year-old Mountain Playhouse

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Somerset County — The bats that inhabit Mountain Playhouse don’t usually bother with people, but there was that one time … It was during “The King and I,” and a bat that had been swooping through the audience crashed the stage during the play within a play.

The erstwhile bat flew into the sword of the evil King Simon of Legree and fell dead. In one memorable motion, the actor used his sword to flick the bat away, stage right, and on went the show.

I love stories like this one about the bat. This is what makes theater awesome and that's why I love live shows of all sorts. I think what's so special about live shows is that they are organic and can react to real life. I think that leads to better comedy and more touching, powerful situations. Old theaters are also awesome. The fact that they have stayed active for so long is a testament to the face that live shows aren't going anywhere. They've existed for quite a long time and I'm sure they will continue to exist for a long time. The fact that this theater is also engaged in the community is awesome.
