Five Reasons To Add DMG Lumière SWITCH LED Lights To Your Kit

Rosco Spectrum: When I first opened the packages from DMG Lumière by Rosco, I had no idea just how integral a piece of kit I had just received. Inside were two SL1 SWITCH lights and one MINI SWITCH light, as well as AC Power Supplies, and DOP Choice SnapBag & SnapGrid Accessories for each of them. After my Junior Magliner, these flexible, adaptable LED soft lights are often the first items to be lifted into my VW Transporter. I can safely say that I have had them on 70% or more of my jobs in 2019 so far. When my gaffers see the DMG lights, they often do that little happy nod, knowing they have a simple and effective addition to today’s kit.

As a TD, I don’t always geek out over the latest gear or gadget. I always like to give something some time on the market or have used it a few times before deciding if I want to spend the money on. As a lighting guy in the TD world or even just in the TD world, as I was reading this article, I was already thinking of 25 different applications where these lights could be put to use. As a portable work light solution that remains cool, uses little electricity and it versatile, I feel like having the small one especially can be quite useful when I need to direct light on a part of a project or install where it may just be too dark. Hauling one of these around may be better than carrying a high powered halogen light that could produce heat where I don’t want it, be a fire hazard or draw too much power. The ability for quick set up and pack up is ideal for someone who just needs some extra light from time to time and for the video folks, this is an amazing product. I may consider adding this to my tool kit sooner rather than later.

This fixture looks like an extremely useful one for several different applications. The five reasons spoken about in this article all describe practical uses for most of the entertainment industry, not only film. Stuart White talks about the flexibility, form-factor, and the quality of light produced by this fixture. In a production as complicated and fast moving as a film it is important to have dependable light sources that can easily be positioned in areas that might be difficult for bigger, clunky fixtures. This light is designed in a way to make it fit into narrow spaces, while still providing an even and full quality of light. The fact that it is an LED makes it all the better. Low power, lack of heat, etc. All of these features inherently make the light more reliable for the film industry as well as other entertainment industries. Stuart seemed to have been writing an advertisement for Rosco and it looks to be an effective testimonial for their product.
