How to make great videos

www.fastcompany.com: Despite 40-plus years on this big, blue rock, I’ve come to the realization that I don’t actually know all that much. Except how to make web videos. I’ve made hundreds of them over the years and currently create product videos as my day job. Here are some of the tips, tricks, and apps I use on a regular basis to make better videos with a reasonable amount of time, budget, and expertise. My advice is best suited to you if you’re just getting into video making or perhaps have made a handful of videos already and are looking to get a bit more serious.

This article is extremely helpful for anyone who wants to go into the world of video and media production. It provides a list of steps to take to produce a quality video along with software and websites that will help your video reach its full potential. The article even sorts the software based on price range. There are options listed for Mac and Windows users making the article inclusive to everybody. The article even provides sites that show you exactly how to produce a quality video and sites with trainings on the softwares. The article, however, does not actually explain how to produce videos, yet it does not say that it is going to. The title says that it will be listing tools to help make professional quality videos, and this it does. This article is a useful resource for anyone who wants to become a film creator and needs help getting started or for anyone who wants to make some youtube videos in their free time or for anyone who needs to make a high quality video for anything in their life. Having a collection of resources at varying price points is useful for most things in life, and this article helps those wanting to make videos.

To begin, I am an avid video creator, producing numerous shorts throughout high school with one of my best friends Andrew (check us out at AO Studios on Youtube) upon many other videos I’ve made just personally, whether for work or for fun. Through my research I’ve read so many articles similar to such, and I agree on some of these comments, though also have a few comments that could ultimately be beneficial to the beginner video creator in any reader.
Firstly, yes, modern smartphones have amazing cameras indeed, but while many of my friends and I have smartphones with good cameras, they haven’t quite done the job very well for me. Even just beginning, it seemed in my best interest to invest even in just a cheap camcorder (a Vixia HF R800 Camcorder, for instance - what I got first). This way, you can use anything between shoddy and professional tripods and have access to the universal attachment on the bottom, which for a standard smartphone is not difficult, though also not cheap to find. In addition, the feeling of using a camera versus using your phone is immensely different, and helps modern media-makers get more involved in their craft (at least in my experience).
Secondly, I agree with the microphone - Snowball microphones (Blue Yeti microphone). They are incredible quality, and it would be a sound-fanatic sin to speak poorly of the brand, as it really is great quality.
Thirdly and finally, the Adobe Creative Cloud, though it may ultimately be more expensive than an editing software such as Camtasia, is ultimately more universal and useful in the real world. Camtasia, based off of previous use and extensive research, seems best for screen recording, such as planning a web-quest or recording gameplay for a Youtube video. The CC suite has always treated me well, and comes with a magnificent set of tools to edit video (Premiere, After Effects), photos (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.), create art (Illustrator, Photoshop), and truly anything your heart may desire. Based on my four years of using the programs the suite offers, no other program/suite has compared to the incredible quality and availability that the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite offers. In addition, the suite offers updates incredibly frequently with new features, bug fixes, etc. You can not go wrong with it.
Anyways, thanks for coming to my video-creator program TED Talk. Hopefully it was helpful in your search for good tools for your video-making needs.
