The Top 20 Most-Produced Playwrights of 2014-15 (Whose Name Is Not Shakespeare)
AMERICAN THEATRE: Who is the most-produced playwright in America right now? That was the question that came to my mind when I undertook the (not really that fun) task of compiling the season listings for the 2014–15 season (which you can peruse in full if you pick up the October issue of American Theatre or if you just searched here).

I love that I can read all of these names and none of them are unfamiliar to me. In my junior year of high school we had a huge assignment where everyone was assigned a playwright and we had to write 3 papers: a biography, a compare and contrast of their work, and a thesis paper of our choosing that expresses our playwright to their full potential. And the 4th part of the project was a presentation of these playwrights. We had to perform a monologue, two scenes, and a power point on our playwright. I remember learning so much from that class. Just hearing about them gets me excited.
