Review: 'Annie' delivers standard lovable laughs, songs

TribLIVE: Little Orphan Annie turns 90 this year.

She and her unofficial godfather, Martin Charnin, have no plans for her to retire anytime soon.

Why should she? Nearly four decades after “Annie” debuted on Broadway, the musical still attracts lots of young girls and more than a few adoring adults like those who filled most of the seats at the Benedum Center, Downtown, on Oct. 28 where the show is playing through Nov. 2 as a presentation of the PNC Broadway Across America — Pittsburgh series.

Wow, at first I thought this was an article praising the cast and the production, and then that last line hits. Such an underhanded blow, ouch.
I have to wonder if the author is a huge fan of Annie. If she is, that could mean that she is automatically super critical towards any production of the show. But you see, that is just her perspective. This production could actually be a fabulous production. Alice T. Carter might just be some stubborn old bat that wants to see the impossible of a perfect performance. Or does she want to see the original Broadway cast again? Sorry that is NOT going to happen, lady. Get over yourself and appreciate the work that this cast has done.

I've seen a lot of Annie recently. There is a new movie, new broadway revival and now this production. It is not a very full review but from the sound of it, it sounds like a pretty good show. Anne is a great musical with tons of up beat and passionate music with a great message. I would have liked to see this production. Anne is a really easy show to do well so I am not surprised this is a fairly positive review.
