Crain's New York Business: The Orchestra of St. Luke's two concerts for the New York Philharmonic's biennial—a new festival modeled on the biennials in the visual-art world—drew raves from critics and were among the most popular shows of the 11-day event.
The midsize orchestra—barely on the radar 10 years ago—was not only invited to play at the prestigious festival that debuted last month, but its 36-year-old principal conductor, Pablo Heras-Casado, also was asked by Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert to help curate the entire event.
