Why Louisiana Is the Next (and Better) Hollywood

mashable.com: Though known best for crawfish, hurricanes and Mardi Gras, Louisiana is California’s newest film industry rival.
Currently, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are fighting crime with a Pelican State backdrop in 22 Jump Street. You may have watched Anna Kendrick sing her way through Baton Rouge in Pitch Perfect and soon in its sequel. True Detective took us through the bayous, while Treme showcased the ins and outs of the nation’s most eclectic city, the one also serving as setting for the new NCIS: New Orleans.

I would have never thought of Louisiana becomes the next Hollywood, but this article provides some interesting insight on how it may blossom in years to come. I have visited New Orleans once before, and it definitely has a very surreal and magical feel to it. Of course, that surreal vibe mostly comes from New Orleans' intense party scene and its way of catering to tourists, but that sort of environment is perfect for expensive, mainstream film. I am really interested to see if Louisiana becomes a hotspot for film in the future because this article was written in 2014 and LA still seems to be the top dog. Perhaps if Louisiana became "the next Hollywood" we would see a shift in cast diversity, film plot, etc? I also wonder how Hollywood would take a hit such as this, and if Hollywood can ever be less than the film production center of the US...
