Ever since I started my classes at CMU for the summer, the one class that I find myself connecting with the most is stagecraft. Specifically, the scene shop section. Seeing the tools and the machines they have at their disposal is truly unbelievable. Checking out the CNC router has been one stand-out tool for me. The accuracy of this tool is unreal. Part of this is having a good router bit. It is important to properly store these tools and make sure you take good care of them. Building a rack would be a good investment of time to this end. Storing them straight up seems like the most common and simplest way. This is because it avoids unwanted contact with the cutting edge. Not only does it help to preserve the bit but it helps with organization. Walking over to a cabinet with labels to find the necessary bit is much easier than sifting through a pile of bits. Keep this in mind when you are storing your router bits.
